Helping family businesses grow today and thrive over generations.

I work with promoter-led and family-owned businesses on the bottlenecks that quietly hold growth back: scale that outpaces capability, execution that still runs through the promoter, and leadership transitions with no clear handover.

Before advising family businesses, I ran one: scaling my family's diamond and jewellery business into a pan-India operation with an international presence.

Familiar business situations

What built the business may not be enough to scale it.

As a business grows, complexity grows with it. If leadership, management capability and governance don't evolve at the same pace, the gap between potential and execution keeps widening. Most promoters recognise at least three of these.

01

Growth is adding complexity faster than the organisation is adding capability.

02

Too many important decisions still wait for the promoter.

03

Leadership roles exist on paper, but ownership of outcomes stays weak.

04

Reviews produce plenty of data and not enough decisions.

05

The next generation carries responsibility without clear authority.

06

The family is aligned emotionally, but not on roles, rights and direction.

About Samkit

An operator first. An advisor second.

My work began inside a family business, not in a consulting room. For 14 years, I ran our family's diamond and jewellery business, building it into a pan-India operation with a strong international presence and leading it through every stage of that growth.

As the business grew, I saw where informal ways of working began to fall short. Promoter bandwidth became a constraint, leadership gaps became more visible, and family dynamics increasingly influenced business decisions.

It also taught me that as a business grows, the promoter's role must change. Decisions can no longer remain concentrated at the top. Roles need greater clarity, leaders need genuine authority, and execution must become less dependent on individual effort.

Hence, in 2018, I founded Aligned Pillars to help promoter-led and family businesses align strategy, leadership, people, and execution so they can grow without remaining dependent on a few individuals. I also work with business families on family governance and succession planning, creating clarity around family decision-making and the transition of ownership and leadership to the next generation.

What Aligned Pillars helps solve

Three bottlenecks where growth quietly gets blocked.

Scaling

The situation

There is a real opportunity in front of the business, but the organisation isn't ready to capture it.

The bottleneck

Direction is scattered across too many priorities, and capability is thinner than ambition.

What we establish

A clear growth roadmap, sharpened market focus, and the structures that support the next stage of scale.

Outcome: From scattered direction to a clear growth roadmap.

Professionalization

The situation

The business has grown, but the management system hasn't matured at the same pace.

The bottleneck

Working stays informal: decisions, reviews and accountability all still route through the promoter.

What we establish

Goals and objectives with review cadences, clear decision rights, and clarity on the outcomes expected from the leadership teams.

Outcome: From founder dependence to leadership ownership.

Leadership transition

The situation

The next generation or professional leadership is in place, but authority and accountability are unclear.

The bottleneck

The founder's role has not been redefined, and no governance holds the handover in place.

What we establish

Family governance that clearly defines the norms guiding both the family and the business, supported by structured roadmaps for next-generation succession.

Outcome: From unclear transition to family alignment.

These bottlenecks rarely exist in isolation. They appear when critical pillars of the business fall out of alignment.

From Operating Experience to an Operating System

APOS brings these moving parts into one structured operating system.

Advisory approach

APOS: the Aligned Pillars Operating System.

APOS is a structured operating system that helps a family business answer two questions:
What is holding back growth?
What must change for the business to move forward?

It identifies where the business is getting stuck and strengthens the strategy, leadership, decision-making, and execution structures needed for profitable scale. Alongside this, it brings clarity to family ownership, roles, and succession.

The result is a professionally managed business that depends less on the promoter and is built to continue across generations without compromising family harmony.

The six alignments

APOS views a family business through six interconnected areas: Strategic Alignment, Leadership Alignment, People Alignment, Financial Alignment, Execution Alignment, and Promoter & Family Alignment.
Together, they determine whether the business can scale profitably, operate professionally, and continue across generations. Since each alignment affects the others, weakness in one can hold back the entire business. Sustainable growth requires all six to move together, beginning with the promoter’s mindset.
